The four pro-sports leagues, along with the NCAA that oppose the New Jersey's sports betting league, filed their most current briefs on Friday with the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals. The idea is the same as with all of the previous filings made; that New Jersey's plan to "tolerate but not officially regulate", betting on sports in Atlantic City Casinos and New Jersey Race Tracks are nothing but superficial efforts to keep PASPA at bay.
The four pro-sports leagues, along with the NCAA state that the New Jersey 2014 law is, "no more consistent with PASPA that the invalidated 2012 law", due to the fact that the law allows gambling to occur, but only by the state's standards. The league's continue to argue that a choice could have been made by New Jersey by announcing a state-wide repeal of sports betting or choosing to stand with PASPA. Instead of making a direct choice, New Jersey has chosen to become an island of sorts. The fact is that New Jersey does not want to abide by the court's previous rulings but this does not give them leeway to do anything that they please.
